CELEBRATIONS
Wiley Lutheran Church, 26500 N. County Highway 2, Ellisville, will celebrate its 125th anniversary with a service at 11 a.m. Sunday. A basket dinner will follow at 12:30 p.m. with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Special music will be provided during the service and throughout the day by vocalist John Zimmerman, Jo Ann Courtney on bowed psaltery and Dawndra Cameron on dulcimer. Bring old photos of the church and church members to share in the history of the church. Calenders with the history of the church will be available.
Church of the Living God, Temple 130, members will walk to their new church home at 2815 W. Lake Ave., Peoria, on Aug. 28. The march will start at 8 a.m. at the old church, 1418 S. Faraday, Peoria. There will be a dedication program at 4 p.m. Sept. 12.
DRAMA
"Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railway" will be presented by Kathryn Harris at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at Green Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley. The program is open to men, women and children of all ages. The Presbyterian Women will serve a supper before the program. Those interested in attending the supper should call 968-9874 or 352-2720 for reservations.
FAMILY
Father/Child Banquet, 6 p.m. Sept. 12, Mossville United Methodist Church. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. followed by a "Storybook Princess" program by Cindy Lou Williams from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. Information: 243-5533 or 579-2147.
LEARNING
An Alpha Tune-Up for all central Illinois churches which are running and conducting Alpha courses will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at Parkview United Church of Christ, 221 Gale Ave., Peoria. Snacks will be served during the breaks and a light lunch will be provided. The program is free, however, a small donation of at least $10 is requested to help defray the costs involved. St. Patrick's Faith on Tap series of Christian programs will feature recording artist Cookie Bannon performing and speaking on "Using your gifts" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Elmwood Brewing Co., 118 E. Main St., Elmwood. Bannon, a music-activity therapist at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, has released seven records. She also is active with the Children's Hospital of Illinois and the Cursillo-TEC movement. The program is free and includes a question-and-answer session.
Precept Upon Precept Bible studies will begin Sept. 2 in Eureka. Revelation Part 4 meets at 9 a.m. or at 7 p.m. and 1 Thessalonians meets at 7 p.m. For more information, call 467-3787 or 467-3458.
MUSIC

Celebration of Praise, 5:30-8 p.m. Aug. 29, Delavan United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Fifth and Locust in Delavan. Featured performers include the Duke Family Gospel Singers of Paris, Ill.; Worship at Full Volume from Bradley University; Kyle Diekhoff, a member of the church; musicians Becky Hawkins, Tiffany Sparks; and keyboardist Pete Faulkner. Ice cream and desserts will be served at 5:30 p.m.
RETREATS
Beginning Experience Weekend for persons who have lost a spouse through death, separation or divorce, will be Nov. 12-14 at Camp Griesheim near Lincoln. The weekend is designed to help divorced, separated and widowed persons grieving over the loss of their spouse. The team includes experienced lay leaders and clergy and the weekend itself includes private reflection, prayer, small-group sharing and the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. Sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Peoria, the weekend is open to men and women of all faiths. Cost is $80 but full or partial subsidies are available for those unable to pay.
