Q. Some time ago, I came upon instructions for putting together a decoration for a bridal shower that included things like an ironing board, bucket and string mop. I would be so grateful if you could locate this recipe.
A. I can't promise I found exactly what you lost; in fact, I'd be surprised if I did. But here's a terrific gift / decoration idea into which you can weave your own touch.
The final product is a doll -- sort of. Start with an ironing board for the body and some wire (or wire ribbon) and poster putty to hold her all together. Then wander the aisles of your favorite kitchen- and bath-supply store, and put on your thinking cap. Some ideas:
-- a string mop for hair.
-- wooden spoons for arms, possibly covered in rubber gloves.
-- a cake or springform pan for a face, topped with tart-pan eyes and bath beads for nose and smile.
-- a pretty full-length apron.
-- a bouquet of kitchen tools.
Isn't she lovely? No? That's fine, too. The idea is to have a couple of laughs and lots of little niceties for the new bride to use to set up housekeeping.
