Successful Deployment of In-Store Gift Registry on

Thin-Client Linux Platform Enhances Customer Service

Cornerstone Retail Solutions announced today the implementation of the company's ExtendYourStore(TM) Gift Registry in over 215 Burlington Coat Factory stores across the nation. The implementation of ExtendYourStore Gift Registry upgraded Burlington's baby registry service from an isolated store paper-based baby registry system to a fully integrated, highly interactive system that ties all stores together.

Burlington Coat Factory is using the Cornerstone software to improve their baby registry service with expanded functionality and services. This service will capture additional customer profile information that Burlington will use to personalize offerings to their customers. To launch this new customer-centric service, Burlington executed a national print and television advertising campaign, which was supported by in-store collateral and information packets. Additionally, plans to extend the Cornerstone application to the Web are underway.

"We feel that upgrading our registry to include online registration combined with the ability to purchase off registries from our online store will add significant value for our customers," said Garry Graham, VP of Marketing for Burlington Coat Factory. "We hope to add the online feature by fall of 2000."

Last year, Burlington was one of the first retailers to announce intent to standardize its store environment on the Linux operating system platform, and this implementation was one of the first commercial applications deployed. The ability to combine Linux on the client-side and Solaris on the server-side illustrates the flexibility of Cornerstone's architecture, the ExtendYourStore Foundation.
