GP offers e-com course: Program addresses advanced IT training shortage in Western Canada - Internet/Web/Online Service Information
Edmonton is now the pilot site of a professional e-commerce course from General Physics Corp. (GP).
The six-month course, entitled the Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) e-Commerce Program, was developed in partnership with Grant McEwan College, and certification will be provided by ProSofttraining.com.
"The course is designed to help people with some IT background in Internet and e-commerce technologies to gain a solid understanding of the requirements and skills to start their own business," says Michael Kazeil, GP sales manger. "We're pleased to be able to launch this course in Edmonton, since there is a shortage of advanced IT courses in Western Canada."
Modelled on a college curriculum, the program combines instructional sessions, with practical lab work and professional development training to provide certification in six tracks. Course tracks cover everything from basic to advanced Internet business, HTML and networking fundamentals.
Kazeil says GP is planning a number of other initiatives in Western Canada to support IT training, including the upcoming opening of a multi-million dollar training facility in downtown Calgary.
"The courses offered at this facility are designed to train Calgarians to become certified IT professionals, resulting in a uniquely qualified workforce for today's and tomorrow's challenging IT market," he says.
