US Transportation Secretary announces airport improvement grants

Several new grants from the US Federal Aviation Administration's Airport Improvement Program have been announced by US Transportation Secretary Norman Y. Mineta.
A USD2m grant has been awarded to reconstruct a runway at Portland International Jetport in Maine in a project that will also bring the runway safety area up to current standards.
Florida's Pensacola and Okaloosa Regional Airports will receive almost USD10m for upgrades and expansions including runway work and expansion of a terminal building.
Meanwhile airports in Delaware will receive a total of USD4m to help them expand and improve safety.
