Spradling

Dale and Evelyn Spradling, Raymore, Mo., will celebrate their 79th wedding anniversary on April 20.

The couple were married April 20, 1926, in Hill City.

They have two children, Don Spradling and his wife, Esther, Topeka, and Vera Jean Gersky and her husband, Ed, of Raymore, Mo. The couple have numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Augie and Jessie Ramirez

Augie and Jessie Ramirez, Topeka, will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary at the 4 p.m. Mass April 23 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Topeka. A special blessing of the couple will be at the end of the Mass.

Augie and Jessie Ramirez were married April 20, 1940, in Chanute.

They are the parents of four children, Katherine Saenz, Bellevue, Neb.; Rose Lara, Topeka; Robert Ramirez, Montana; and Marti Gonzales, Topeka. The couple have 14 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren.

Marvin and

Mary Cottrell

Marvin and Mary Cottrell, Onaga, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. April 24 in the basement of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at 308 E. 3rd in Onaga.

Mary Harries and Marvin Cottrell were married April 26, 1945, at the Nemaha County Courthouse in Seneca.

Hosting the open house will be their children, Charles and Janie Cottrell, Onaga; Helen and Phil Paxson, Topeka; and Warren Cottrell, Onaga. The Cottrells have six grandchildren, two step- grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one step-great- granddaughter.

Mr. Cottrell is a retired farmer, Onaga Sale Barn owner from 1954 to 1974, real estate salesman and auctioneer.

Mrs. Cottrell was a bookkeeper for the Onaga Sale Barn and auction clerk.

Clarence and

Wilma Lyden

Clarence and Wilma Lyden, Topeka, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary as guests of honor at a reception from 1 to 3 p.m. April 24 at the Goodyear Shelter House west of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. plant on US-24 highway north of Topeka.

Wilma Stewart and Clarence Lyden were married April 26, 1945, in Girard.

Hosts will be their four children and spouses, Howard Lyden, Kansas City, Mo.; Sherry and Ron Musick, Topeka; Joetta and Gary Lady, Topeka; and Jackie Lyden, Topeka. The couple have eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Lyden is the owner and operator of Glenco Excavating.

Mrs. Lyden is the owner of Ceramics Galore, now in its 15th year. She retired in 1990 from nursing after working at both Topeka hospitals.

Peggy and Joe Breedlove

Joe and Peggy Breedlove, Topeka, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their daughter and son-in-law in Virginia.

Peggy Manning and Joe Breedlove were married April 12, 1955, at the home of the bride's mother in Norman, Okla.

They have three children, Lt. Col. Pamela Breedlove-Boeding, currently serving in Iraq; Cheryl Holt, who recently retired as a chief master sergeant from the Alaska Air National Guard and now resides in Virginia; and Robert Breedlove, a trainmaster for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway in Los Angeles, who resides in California. The couple have five grandchildren.

Mr. Breedlove retired as a chief master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force in 1985. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1998.

Mrs. Breedlove retired in 2003 as a Healthy Start home visitor.

Bonnie and

Jim Heckel

James and Bonnie Heckel, Topeka, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception from 2 to 5 p.m. April 23 at Berryton United Methodist Church, 7010 S.E. Berryton Road.

James L. Heckel and Bonnie J. Trimble were married April 23, 1955, in Topeka.

Mr. Heckel retired in 1986 from Graybeal Construction Co. as a foreman after 39 years of service.

Mrs. Heckel retired in 1983 from Southwestern Bell as an engineering clerk after 29 years of service.

Fred and

Alice Tilton

Fred and Alice Tilton, Topeka, will be honored with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. April 24 at Western Hills Baptist Church, 2900 S.W. Auburn Road, in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.

Hosts will be their family.

Fred Tilton and Alice Drescher were married April 22, 1955, in Topeka.

Their four children and spouses are Janis and Jim Branch, Jeff and Rhonda Tilton, Jody and Greg Cooper, all of Topeka, and Joe and Angela Tilton, Gardner. The Tiltons have 10 grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Tilton retired in 1998 as the owners and operators of Tilton's Markets after 40 years in the grocery business.

Betty and

Richard Reese

Richard and Betty Reese, Topeka, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday.

They plan to celebrate with a trip at a later date.

Richard and Betty Reese were married April 16, 1955, in Osage City.

Their three children and spouses are Rick and Christine Reese, Florida; Brenda Elliott, Topeka; and Ron and Monica Reese, Topeka.

The couple have four granddaughters and two grandsons, and one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson.

Mr. Reese served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956, including one year in Korea. He retired in 1990 from Del Monte Foods after 25 years of service.

Mrs. Reese worked for the VA hospital in 1954-55. She is retired from employment in the children's day care business after 18 years of service.

John and

Darlene Gartner

John and Darlene Gartner, Topeka, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 23.

They were married April 23, 1955, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Topeka.

Their children and spouses are Darla and Keith Steinlage, Pam and Bill Hook, and Theresa and Neil Dunham. They are the grandparents of five children.

Mr. Gartner is retired from Famous Brand Distributors.

Mrs. Gartner was the owner of Dona's Gift Box.

George and Patricia Williams

George and Patricia Williams, Topeka, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner.

George F. Williams and Patricia A. Myrick were married April 16, 1955, at Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka.

Their three children and spouses are Belinda and Robert Breight, Louisburg; George P. and Dinah Williams, Mohave Valley, Ariz.; and Theresa Cook, Rossville. The couple have nine grandchildren.

Mr. Williams retired Dec. 31, 1993, from Santa Fe Railway as a general supervisor in information systems after 38 years of service.

Mrs. Williams is a homemaker, wife and mother.
